Gerardo "Gerry" Cabreros Has Made Contact!
I got to talk to Gerardo "Gerry" Cabreros last night and we shared a few good laughs. So what do you talk about after not seeing each other for some 40 years? Anything under the sun! He married a girl from Aklan though they met and married here in GMA. They've had 3 kids, one is now an MD, another a CPA, and (not sure) a computer expert! Oh, and two grand children. They live in the San Juan of JVE (Joseph V. Ejercito) land. He has no email yet but said he would get one to stay in touch. He's retired forester now but still has some consultancy going.

(Private) Storm Terri Hits RP and Cebu With Devastating Force!
Well, Terri is our friend Terri Lacson and while she can really have a mean wallop- she can hold a gang of ne'er- do-wells at bay in her job in the US, doesn't she?- she's a very loved, kindly aunt/sister/cousin with her family!

To get back to the story: Terri's plane was landing at NAIA when it received instructions to abort and fly to Taiwan and let Milenio finish his swan song! That was around noon Thursday the 28th, and she was finally allowed entry into RP on Friday. No problem except that all the diverted flights decided to return all at the same time, and it was chaos! Welcome back, Terri!

And she called me as soon as she got was settled in Marikina at Jori's (her cousin) place, and we decided me and the Missus would join their family Bienvenida the next day, night- actually, at Kamayan West. And so we did, enjoyed the smorgasbord offering I mean, on that Saturday night. Although business establishments were lit brightly thanks to individual generators, most parts of West Avenue and surrounds, were pith dark- Timog and most of the way to and back home reflected the mood: Milenio was one hell of a guy/storm!

It's all quiet now here in GMA, Terri was supposed to fly out to Cebu yesterday ..... Let's give sometime for the news to come in from Cebu.

Those were the good news, now the bad news:

Ernesto "Tittong" Tugab, RIP

In our drive to "get in touch" with former high school friends, I thought that I'd work on Tittong after I ran into his brother Mateo "Chiching" in the "Names Database" program. below is the exchange of emails between Chiching and me

Hello, Chiching.

That is sad, very sad, indeed. You know, I know a little about that area of Novaliches- Camarin, Almar and Bagong Silang- and I was hoping that one of these days I'd go drop in on Tittong and really surprise him! That would have been nice, though getting directions to that area can be a problem, but I've found a few people/locations in that area before! Like I used to deliver ATM spare parts to Metrobank Camarin! It's the bank at the junction of that busy crossing where you have the (relatively) new mall.

"Dak'sang gasat nga banag!" we'd say. My condolence to you and Tittong's loved ones- to be sure I will pray for him, it's the least I can do for him.

I'll email you from time to time, if you don't mind. Regards to your family.

Hello Jun,

Honestly, I don,t know how to begin. Anyway, I visited titong September 28 in Bagung Silang Caloocan. He had a stroke. I told him about your e-mail and how much you wanted to talk to him and get in touch with him. He was very happy you stlll remember him after all these years. That was the last time I saw him. He passed away Oct 1. His remains will be brought to Bayombong Oct 3 and he will be buried on Saturday Oct 7. I It's a pity you didn't have the chance toconverse with him. Please pray for him.

I feel very sad that your efforts to get in touch with Titong would end like this.

With regrets, Chiching.

Thank you for your news on Tittong and my apologies for not responding earlier: I was hoping to write that I've finally talked to him on the phone when I email you next, but it seems I'll have to postpone my contact now- it may have a negative effect on him.

News about SMC alumni, the former Miss Teresita dela Cruz (SMC Hi 59) will be returning to NV hopefully for good around end of this September. She's a younger sister to Jess and Rogelio (I guess) de la Cruz and they lived in the our row of houses in the Centro.

I hope that Tittong fully recovers, and soon, too. Regards to you and your family.

Jun Mania.
